Academy teams and instructors

Publish courses with the access model learners need.

Every academy can expose a branded catalog, sell a course, let learners self-enroll, or keep a course private and share it by invitation. Visibility controls discovery; enrollment mode controls how access is granted.

Choose discovery and enrollment separately

SettingUse it whenLearner outcome
academy_publicThe course belongs in the academy storefront. Its catalog and detail page can be discovered through the academy URL.
privateAccess is controlled by staff or invitations. The course never appears in public catalog results.

invite_onlyA private or cohort-style course needs controlled access.Staff enrollment or a valid invitation grants access.
Configure course accessSet visibility and enrollment mode in Course Studio → Landing Page → Marketplace.

Grant accessSelf-enroll, checkout, invitation acceptance, or staff enrollment creates the course relationship.
Start learningAccess sends the learner to the protected course player, never directly to private curriculum.

Academy storefront

Academy storefronts are scoped to one active academy. The catalog supports search and course filters; course detail pages show outcomes, instructor identity, availability, pricing, related courses, and the learner’s current access state. A public course route is not a bypass for protected lesson content.

Named routePublic behavior
academy.storefront.indexLists published storefront-visible courses for an academy.
academy.storefront.showShows one published storefront-visible course.
academy.storefront.enrollAuthenticated entry point that self-enrolls or starts checkout after access-policy checks.

Private invitations and staff enrollment

Invitation rules
  • Create invitations in Course Studio → Publish for a course you are allowed to manage.
  • Invitations are addressed to one email, can expire, and can only be accepted by that matching account.
  • Acceptance creates an enrollment with invitation access source and opens the learner’s course player.
Staff enrollment
  • Enrollment operations remain available to authorized academy staff.
  • Use staff enrollment when access should not depend on an email acceptance step.
  • Keep staff enrollment, invitation creation, and academy visibility inside the correct academy scope.
Operational rule: change a course’s marketplace settings before publishing. Do not use public visibility as a substitute for preview content; public lesson previews remain governed by the existing lesson protection rules.
