What this means in plain language

The exam player saves answer versions to the server while the student works. A visual “saved” message means the server accepted that version; the final submission is a separate action.

Step-by-step

  1. Sign in with your own student account and open Assigned Exams or the student portal.
  2. Read the exam instructions, timing, allowed materials, navigation rules, and privacy notice before starting.
  3. Enter the access code when required and start only when ready; the attempt clock may begin immediately.
  4. Answer each question and watch the save status. Keep the browser open while an answer is still saving.
  5. Use the permitted navigation and flagging controls. Follow on-screen recovery guidance after a connection interruption.
  6. Review unanswered items, submit once, and wait for the submission confirmation before closing the page.

How to know it worked

Common mistakes

  • Opening the same attempt in multiple tabs or devices.
  • Closing the page while the save indicator is pending.
  • Assuming an integrity warning automatically means a disciplinary decision.

If something goes wrong

  • After a short connection loss, wait for recovery and compare the restored answer state before continuing.
  • If time or accommodations are wrong, stop and contact authorized staff before submitting.
  • Record the visible error and time; do not share answer content, access codes, or credentials in an insecure channel.
Privacy and security: Camera or activity evidence is collected only when configured and permitted. Students must receive an understandable notice describing what is captured, why, who can review it, and retention policy.

What to do next

After submission, authorized staff review attempt integrity and begin marking.
